What is the difference between a positive and a negative refrigerated cabinet?
A positive refrigerated cabinet maintains a temperature between 0°C and +8°C for storing fresh products (meat, fish, vegetables, dairy). A negative refrigerated cabinet operates between -18°C and -22°C for freezing and storing frozen products. At GL Distribution, both types are available in 600L (compact) and 1200L (large capacity), all in stainless steel.
What is the difference between a refrigerated counter and a saladette?
Both are refrigerated workstations. A refrigerated counter features doors or drawers underneath for cold storage, with a smooth worktop above. A saladette includes integrated Gastronorm pans on top (with lid), allowing ingredients to be kept within reach for assembling salads, sandwiches, or pizzas. Our F&G counters are available in 2–4 door and 4–6 drawer formats, and our saladettes in GN 1/3 and GN 1/4 formats.
What refrigerated cabinet capacity does my restaurant need?
As a general rule, allow approximately 10 to 15 liters per daily cover served. A 40-cover restaurant typically requires around 400–600L of positive refrigeration — our 600L cabinet is perfectly suitable. For high-volume establishments (80+ covers, caterers, collective kitchens), the 1200L cabinet is recommended, possibly complemented by a refrigerated counter for prep work. How is a refrigerated cabinet delivered?
